Kofi Annan hits back at US and UK
Balaji Reddy
Apr. 15, 2005

There are lots of talk going on about Kofi Annan and his son Kojo Annan about profiting from “U.N. oil-for-food program in Iraq”. The American conservative talk show hosts keep blame Kofi Annan for the related corruption that happened in Iraq. But finally Kofi Annan hits back at the British and the American authorities blaming them for former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein earning billions of dollars illegally from smuggling crude oil.

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said April 14 that Britain and the United States are partly at fault for former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein earning billions of dollars illegally from smuggling crude oil. Annan said the United States and Britain could have stopped the illegal oil smuggling but made no effort to do so. He also said Saddam profited from illegal oil sales, not from receiving kickbacks under the U.N. oil-for-food program.
