Indian Military Ready For First Dedicated Satellite

India's military forces are finally set getting ready to receive their first-ever dedicated military satellite, a naval surveillance and communications one, as part of their long-standing quest to effectively harness the final frontier of space.

In addition, India created a new post of assistant chief of naval staff (communications, space and network-centric operations) at the Navy head-quarters over the weekend. India plans to compete actively with China in developing anti-satellite (ASAT) technology. India's DRDO is quite advanced in this respect and may surprise the world very soon.

According to official sources, India is still some distance away from effective ASAT capabilities. But India's classified research and development programs are quite advanced in space technologies, some experts believe.
