Iraqi Government security forces battle insurgents, Sunnis test Shiites power and will
Kiran Chaube
Jan. 15, 2012

The Sunnis are testing Shiite will in Iraq. In a test for Iraqi forces following the withdrawal of the U.S. military mission last month, a dozen of armed insurgents dressed in military uniforms and explosives-rigged vests stormed the compound in the city of Ramadi in the predominantly Sunni Arab western province of Anbar. A high-level political meeting in Baghdad failed to make progress toward ending a power sharing crisis dividing and creating massive tension in Iraq for the past several months.

Iraqi security forces fought with insurgents who blasted their way into a police compound west of Baghdad to free terror suspects in a deadly battle lasting several hours on Sunday.
