As you see, a lot of heat, sparks, friction and spoke, but no sustained fire. ... Disaster averted, all 231 people on board exited safely.
The pilot was called Poland's Captain Sully and praised by the 231 people on board." One unidentified speaker added, "The captain was just -- put the plane, the machine down. The passengers thought that we landed on wheels.
Due to the safe landing, Poland's President Bronislaw Komorowski "said he planned to decorate the crew members with state honors."
