Gambhir takes charge of Kolkata Knight Riders
R. Nanadi
Sep. 24, 2011

Gautam Gambhir, cricket world's most paid cricket professional is set to take charge of Kolkata team charging against England's Somerset on Sunday.

"It is up to him to decide on playing. We don''t want to put any pressure on him. He looks fit and is hitting the ball well. If he decides to play, he will lead the side," said coach Dav Whatmore.

Gambhir had an extended nets session and is looking ready to take on the English team after India lost matches against England in the summer.

"We should have won the match. We did have our chances but didn''t play smart cricket. Our first objective was to top the group but if that failed we wanted to make sure that we made it to the main tournament," coach Whatmore said. With that objective achieved, Whatmore is eyeing greater glory: "Our aim is to be among the top two in the group."
