Dhoni finally speaks out against English manipulations in crucial umpiring decisions
Karen Mathews
Sep. 4, 2011

Dravid was not out several times in the English tour. Again and again England manipulated the original decisions against him and other Indian players to swing the games to their side reversing in the field original umpiring decisions.

Indian Captain Dhoni finally expressed his frustrations. Indian fans were shutting their televisions off in South Asia as it was becoming clear that England just could not tolerate Indian dominance in international cricket.

They planned it well. They created the pitches to favor their bowlers. They saw thousands of hours of slow speed videos of each Indian player to find their weak points. That allowed target specific body-lining of Indian batsmen. That is why you see tremendous amount of Indian injuries among Indian batsmen from English seam bowling.

They targeted crucial Indian players. The initial goal was if India cannot be made to bow down to English cricket in the field, it will done outside. They started the nasty negative campaign with Vaseline controversy against VVS Laxman. Soon they opted to getting Indian players out with the help of English technicians working remotely as third umpires remotely reversing legitimate decisions of "in the field" umpires. Guess who they went after with this strategy - Rahul Dravid. Remember those who manipulate plan to do as little as possible with maximum impact. It England can artificially neutralize Dravid, little of India is left. The rest can be terrorized with targeted bodyline bowling.

It is interesting where English strategy failed. Whenever any relatively unknown or new Indian batsman performed, their strategy miserably failed. Their manipulative and analytical techniques went no where against batting of Rahane, Parthiv Patel, Amit Mishra, and Praveen Kumar. They failed to target them because they could not find slow speed videos of their batting.

England has thus killed the spirit of cricket they originally created. Today cricket is like professional football. Money talks, money is the motivation for most players. The money is in Indian fans in South Asia these days, not is Australia, South Africa, or even in England. Indian premier League (IPL) with billions of dollars/sterling/euros will replace the traditional ODI and test cricket eventually. Real cricket will be played in India, not in Europe, Americas, or Australia.

BCCI, and Indian players never understood the tricks of English Cricket Board. They are now just starting to understand what really happened.

India should make England and Australia come and play in India. The justifications come from financial issues. Which ever spectators collectively can pay most, should experience best cricket most.

If Argentina and Venezuela play soccer in Kolkata, why should there be not five IPLs in different formats including some involving countries during a year?
