EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht said that China can expect more complaints from European manufacturers about subsidization.

Expressing concern about China's undervalued currency, De Gucht said he expected gradual appreciation due to domestic Chinese considerations. Appreciation will not occur as a result of international pressure, he said, but rather internal concerns such as the risk of an inflationary spiral.
