Opposition prepares to corner the UPA on price rise and Gujarat Events

The treasury benches may take heart from the fact that parties on the other side are divided on Gujarat events but the fact is that Congress party faces the largest storm in the history of Indian Parliament.

Bjp and the Left parties will press for an adjournment motion on price rise issue at the start of the session but it will be taken up on Tuesday as the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha are expected to be adjourned immediately after obituary references over the death of two sitting members on the first day.

BJP today said it would bring an adjournment motion on price rise issue and expressed the hope that other opposition parties would stand united on this and other issues during the session. In a veiled warning, Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj said that there would not be any disturbance if the government heeded to their demand. She said that the UPA partners DMK and Trinamool Congress too wanted a discussion on the issue of price rise.

With the government in no mood to accept the opposition demand, a confrontation between the two sides is expected right from the beginning.

NDA leaders are in touch with other opposition parties to put up a united fight against the government on issues like price rise, Bhopal gas tragedy and exit of Union Carbide CEO Warren Anderson, Civil Liability for Nuclear Damages Bill, Economic blockade of Manipur and the situation in Kashmir.

Indian democracy is at stake with the use of CBI by Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi.
