11 Pakistani cricket fans missing after the cricket match – where are they?
Police have reported in Mohali that after the completion of the One day International (ODI), eleven Pakistani supporters are missing. They never reported back to authorities.
Police have charged them with overstaying in India and they will be deported to Pakistan if found by police, said R.P.S. Brar, senior superintendent of police.
A total of 2,750 Pakistanis had crossed over to India from the land border at Wagah with weeklong visas to watch the first cricket test from March 16-21.
Eleven of them, all from the Pakistani city of Lahore, have overstayed in India, Brar told The Associated Press.
Sources say Police and Indian intelligence officials are concerned for their safety and also for finding out if they are directly or indirectly involved in Terrorism or other crimes.
Some may have stayed back for economic reasons; some may be visiting their families and have cared little for Indian immigration laws.
