Nepal’s Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai on Sunday said his party would serve as a bridge between the two giant neighbours, India and China, as Maoist leader Prachanda strikes a secret deal with Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Mr. Bhattarai said efforts were being made to spread negative propaganda about his leader’s ongoing China visit. The visit was aimed at establishing better ties between the two countries, he underlined.

India is watching the situation closely. Indian intelligence agecies are aware of the secret deals between the Maoists and the Communists China. India has recently decided moving the Branmos supersonic missile along the Chinese border. In addition Indian Air Force is shifting focus from Pakistan to China.

Massive Air Force instrastructure development in the Chinese border is significant. In addition, India is accelerating the development and commissioning of the nuclear submarine fleet to challenge the Cinese navy in their own water if need be.

China is trying to influence Nepal and Sri Lanka to keep India worried. China used Pakistan for that purpose for many decades. But now Pakistan is not a threat to India especially with NATO forces in Afghanistan.
