Pakistan won the toss and have elected to bat first - Pak reach 302/9, Malik falls after a brilliant 128
Zaheer Khan
Sep. 26, 2009

Ashish Nehra opened the attack for India and was right on the money. Imran Nazir and Kamran Akmal opened for Pakistan. The Indian fielding was sharp and applied immediate pressure on the Pakistani batsmen. Ashish Nehra also kept a check on the score and only allowed one run in the over. Pakistan were 1/0 after the first over.

Against the run of play, it was Nehra who got the dismissal for India, as Nazir went for a big one, only to get the leading edge and was smartly taken by Harbhajan Singh at mid on. Pakistan were 29/1.

It was then redemption time for RP Singh, who had been hammered by the Pakistan attack. Coming back for his second spell Singh came round the wicket to get Younis Khan's outside edge and Pakistan lost their third wicket. They were 65/3 in 15 overs.

India took control of the match in the middle overs. After taking crucial wickets in the bowling powerplay, the Indian attack kept sustained pressure on the Pakistan middle order. Virat Kohli and Yusuf Pathan were introduced and both bowlers put a stop on their scoring. Pakistan were 86/3 in 20 overs.
