India does not plan to give in to American and European pressures on committing to a legally binding agreement on cutting carbon emissions. India plans to go ahead with her own plans on the issue irrespective of what others plan to force into the neck of India.
Environment and Forest Minister Jairam Ramesh made it very clear that India under no circumstance will succumb to international pressures. His voice echoed in the Indian Parliament “Under no international agreement, will we accept legally binding mitigations. We accept our responsibility but we will not accept any agreement which legally binds us to cut emissions."
