Gilani says no help for Misharraf but secret deal guarantees Mushrraf’s safe heaven stay in Pakistan
Kiran Chaube
Jul. 26, 2009

Musharraf is safe, sound and will be so for ever. The Pakistani Military and ISI gurantees Musharraf’s safe haven in Pakistan. No matter what Gilani says, no court will ever do anything to Musharraf.

Pakistan Government says it will not extend any help to former president Pervez Musharraf to defend himself in any court of law. But that is just words that has to be said.

Mr. Gilani and Mr. Sharif agreed that the PPP and PML-N will cooperate in restoring the constitution of Pakistan as of 1973 by scrapping the 17th amendment, which gives the President sweeping powers. Musharraf was instrumental in such amendment.

Mr. Zardari recently called on PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif at his palatial residence on the outskirts of Lahore to remove misunderstandings between the two parties. Mr. Gilani has said that he brokered the meeting between the two leaders.
