Oracle shed employees - severe global depression hits the second largest software company in US

Oracle Corp plans to lay off up to 1,000 workers in Europe, or about 1 percent of its global staff. It is just the start, the real layoffs are coming in months.
Trade unions learned of the job cuts on Monday and Tuesday during committee meetings of Oracle's European workers.
Oracle has now joined EMC Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co, International Business Machines Corp, Intel Corp, Microsoft Corp and SAP AG, among others in laying off employees due to the global depression .
Redwood City, California-based Oracle had some 86,000 employees. Approximately, 30,000 employees are in US and the rest are in outsourcing mode all oevr the world.
