Maoists adopt Sunni resistance tactics of Iraq – Indian forces face massive hit and run and IED insurgency in Ramgarh
Anuj Thapa
Jun. 28, 2009

They are invisible. The shadow the Indian CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) like a hawk following them with the jungle in their background. Maoists fires on CRPF personnel from the jungles behind the police camp housed in Ramgarh High School. The attack takes place around 1.30am when the area is dark because of a power cut.

They are using home made improvised explosive device (IED) to cause maximum damage to the Indian security forces. The tactics is similar to Sunni resistance against the United States in Iraq. They recede; allow the security forces to move in. They follow the security forces like a hawk. They attack at will when they find opportunities. They use IEDs to hold the security forces at bay.

A BSF patrol team passing through the area found them hiding behind a bush. A 9mm pistol, 10 bullets and a flash gun used to detonate an explosive were found on them.

A police team later found about 50m of electrical wire and an improvised device containing 5kg of explosives buried three feet under the mud strip along the road.
