Indian security forces flush out Maoists in Lalgarh, tension with tribals escalate, Naxals vows revenge
Preeti Singhani
Jun. 28, 2009

The Maoists escaped. Lalgarh is in Indian hands again. The tribal leaders are upset with Indian Government. They consider the West Bengal Marxist regime as enemy. The security forces arrested two suspected Maoists who later denied any connection with the Maoists.

Security forces defused seven landmines from Lalgarh, while flushing out the Maoists hiding around the troubled area of West Bengal's West Midnapore.

However, the tension in the region is very high. The tribal leaders are not happy with the Indian and the West Bengal Government. The Bengal Marxists have tortured the tribal people for decades giving rise to militant uprising and eventual Maoists influences.

Maoists provide them shelter, water, and the resources they need. The tribals like to live under the Maoists rather than the torturing Government of West Bengal.
