Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is likely to visit America in September, his first United States trip after Barack Obama took over as President. He will meet President Obama and make a personal appeal to bring Pakistan under international court of justice for terror acts.

US National Security Adviser James Jones conveyed Obama’s invitation when he met Singh on Friday. “The upcoming visit will be an opportunity to continue the discussion that the two leaders held during the G-20 meeting in London, focusing on the global economic situation, trade, energy and climate change, and regional security issues,” a US embassy statement said.

The embassy indicated that the visit was expected “this fall”. Most likely this would be in September when Singh visits Pittsburg for the G-20 Summit. He would then travel to Washington for an India-US bilateral meeting. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be in Delhi before that, most likely next month.
