Kyrgyzstan's new regime darling of the West and Kremlin – old President took refuge in Russia- country moves towards Democracy through “Tulip Revolution”
Kyrgyzstan is in the process of settling down. The “Tulip Revolution” is successful and after some serious hick ups the new regime is settling down. Russian officials confirmed that that Askar Akayev, the former President asked for and was granted refuge in Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to help the new Kyrgyz regime after receiving a phone call from Kyrgyzstan's new temporary president, Kurmanbek Bakiyev. The new regime is determined to bring democracy back as soon as possible.
Kremlin officials confirmed that Askar Akayev asked for and was granted refuge in Russia.
The U.S. ambassador to Kyrgyzstan was the first to congratulate the new acting Kyrgyz president. The European Union also welcomed the new regime and its promise to bring democracy back.
According to many among the Kyrgyz opposition, Europeans and US were helpful during the revolution and the current regime is grateful for that.
Kyrgyzstan's parliamentary body has decided to go for democratic Presidential election on 26th June.
Though it seems the “Tulip Revolution” is a setback for Kremlin and a gain for the West, Kremlin does not view it that way. The new regime is the darling of both Kremlin and the West. The fact is democracy has won. People of Kyrgyzstan will have the say and that is what matters.
