American Larry was carrying a pistol (made in Austria), three empty magazines and 35 live cartridges in his check-in baggage at Chennai
Authorities are calling this American citizen Larry. According to Chennai authorities, Larry was carrying a pistol (made in Austria), three empty magazines and 35 live cartridges in his check-in baggage.
Arizona resident Meyers arrived in India on a Continental airlines flight
from Phoenix on May 27. A day later, he boarded a Kingfisher flight from Delhi's IGI airport to Chennai. "Larry was carrying a pistol (made in Austria), three empty magazines and 35 live cartridges in his check-in baggage. The baggage system at the IGI's ID terminal failed to detect the weapon and he could board the flight and reach Chennai,'''' said airport sources.
"If a passenger is carrying a weapon in their check-in baggage, they have to first declare it at the airport and then fill up the appropriate forms for it after showing the necessary license. The American citizen had a US license for the gun, but it is not valid in India,'''' said a source.
The new terminal ID with inline baggage handling was introduced at the Delhi airport for the first time in March. With the four-level inline baggage handling, passengers can simply walk up to the designated check-in counter, deposit their luggage and collect boarding passes.
