US eager to establish deeper military relationship with Pakistan and dismisses India's concerns on F-16 sale to Pak – Time for India to rise up and stand tall!

Mar. 26, 2005

Dismissing India's concerns over supply of multi-role F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan, US has said there was "no contradiction" between encouraging Islamabad to advance towards democracy and seeking a military relationship with that nation.

"There is no contradiction between encouraging Pakistan to advance towards democracy and seeking a deeper military relationship with that nation", Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in an interview to the Washington Post yesterday.

America can dream about Pakistani democracy for the next twenty years, it is time for India to rise up and stand tall. India needs to normalize relations with Pakistan and move on in the direction of solving all outstanding issues.

However, India needs to look beyond and demand the UN Security Council Seat immediately. The problem with Indian foreign policy is the fact that India is overly concerned about a nation like Pakistan that constantly needs “military bread and butter” from America. In the past America provided sophisticated arms to Pakistan. Feeling great about these arms they decided to engage India in wars. In every war, they lost miserably. How many times did Pakistan have democracy? How many times did they lose the same? How many Prime Ministers are hanged in Pakistan by the Military rulers who seized power?

India needs to rise and look beyond Pakistan and America. Let them have closer military relations and be busy trying to catch Bin Laden for the next several years. India needs to focus on economic growth, competing with China and building the economic environment that can make the world experience “shock and Awe.”

India needs to focus on other issues than military arms given to Pakistan. In this age of nukes, it just does not matter what Pakistan got. Pakistan will soon look at India like the world looks at China for economic growth and prosperity.
