Enough is enough. The genocide has to stop. The Tamil rights must be preserved. These were the slogans at the massive DMK led Chennai rally in support of the Sri Lankan Tamils.

According to media reports, DMK-headed Sri Lankan Tamils Rights Welfare Committee is calling for an immediate ceasefire in the embattled northern and eastern parts of the island nation (Sri Lanka).

DMK's newly appointed Treasurer and Local Administration Minister M K Stalin led the rally, which covered about two km from Munroe Statue to Chepauk Guest House. Senior DMK leaders, including Electricity Minister Arcot N Veeraswamy and members of the Committee from DMK's alliance parties like the Congress and others also participated in the rally.

The protesters raised slogans against the Sri Lankan government and called for an immediate halt to the Army's offensive. They carried placards carrying such messages and also black balloons to condemn the Sri Lankan government.
