Carolyn Kennedy’s withdrawal from NY Senate seat marks end of son, daughter, spouse entitlement to American politics – Hillary Clinton should also resign
American political system is plagued with sons, daughters, spouses of established politician claiming their entitlement to political system. Hillary Clinton became a senator from NY without living in NY ever. Joe Biden’s son, Mario Cuomo’s son – all are waiting to snatch their entitlement. Jeb Bush is also eager to see if Obama fails.
American democracy has slowly created a political caste system. If your father, mother, spouse was a famous politician, you are entitled to get preference. That is not democracy that is welfare for the established new caste – the ‘good for nothing’ politicians.
Caroline Kennedy's mysteriously abrupt decision to abandon her Senate bid gave rise to an ugly swirl of accusations and feverish speculation over whether she jumped or was pushed.
The 51-year-old daughter of President John F Kennedy was widely considered a front-runner for the Senate seat until she sent midnight e-mail to reporters and Gov David Paterson saying she was withdrawing for what she described only as personal reasons.
Whatever may be the reason for her abandonment of the Senate bid, she has broken the so-called ‘system of political entitlements.’ Politicians should succeed because of their own achievement and leadership.
On the same account Hillary Clinton should resign from the post of the Secretary of State. Just because she is the spouse of Bill Clinton, it is not fair that she gets a free ride in the vibrant democracy called America.
