In Kyrgyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, the former opposition chief, who took charge of a new government after being temporarily appointed prime minister by parliament, is struggling to restore order and keep power in the middle of looting and street violence in Bishkek, the capital.
Former president Askar Akayev, Kyrgyzstan's ruler for 14 years, spoke from unknown where about. He said he will be back, the opposition will be defeated and they will pay for what they have done.
“I did not expect this,” Mr Bakiyev said of the speed of the uprising, which brought down the government in a matter of hours. “I thought we would have a rally and appeal to the president. But because they did not come to the talks, this was the result.”
More than three people are dead and 173 injured in the capital as law and order is failing apart.
