Chidambaram visiting Washington with evidence linking Pakistan – India realizing how America silently supports Pakistani terror
The western nations led by America is little interested in stopping Pakistan from terror operations against India as long as it is not directed at the west directly.
According to media reports, Frustrated at the lack of support from the West, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram is traveling to the United States next week with "incontrovertible" evidence linking Pakistan with the 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai.
Compilation of the evidence gathered so far, including confession of the lone terrorist nabbed alive, was completed by the Home Ministry and the Intelligence Bureau officials here on Saturday for Chidambaram to carry it for presentation to the U.S. administration to put pressure on Islamabad.
The same evidence may also be presented to the United Nations to press the world body for sending its monitors to Pakistan for overseeing the steps it is required to dismantle the terror outfits operating from its territory, sources in the Prime Minister's office here said.
Officials here say, they would not give any evidence directly to Pakistan as demanded by the Western nations. "We had shared with Pakistan evidence in some high-profile terror cases about two years ago but have stopped this practice completely since then," they say.
The US and other countries have been asking India to share evidence with Pakistan so that it can act on the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Indians say that evidence share with Islamabad in the past has been used by the Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) to cover its tracks, plug loopholes and plan future attacks with effectiveness and without leaving a trail.
