America made the change – can India elect its own Obama – UP Chief Minister Mayawati’s time has come
The air smells ‘change.’ Washington has finally changed. US President George Bush and his party has been sent back to the rural areas of America where they can still brainwash naive less educated folks and serve the special interest and corporations. Can India change? Indian oligarchs control the major political parties. 800 million people of India wait for India’s version of Obama.
Who is India’s Obama? You guessed it right; it is Mayawati – the vibrant, charismatic Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Like Obama, she bears the scar of segregation in Indian society. She is from backward class – the caste system that haunts Indian civilization just like slavery haunts American societal structure.
No one other than Obama knows how much the American oligarchs were involved in a staged election of Obama. In 1984, when John Kerry selected Obama to deliver the keynote speech in the Democratic conventions, it was clear something is happening around Obama. Time will tell if President Obama will change America and the world. If he follows the Clinton, Bush path, we will know his election was staged just as buffer for the next George Bush to take over in 2012.
India is different. It is definitely a more vibrant democracy. You do not need to a billionaire in India to start a new party. But still the oligarchs are in control. The way Congress Party bought the Parliament votes to support nuclear agreement with America, the way BJP and the Left parties accepted the mockery of democracy, and the way India moved on, there are all the doubts needed to question the influence of the oligarchs in Indian politics.
Still the question is can Mayawati really win in New Delhi just like Obama? Can UP provide another Indian leader that can really people of India rather than the oligarchs of India?
