US may provide visa to Modi but Modi may boycott America! - NRI hoteliers cancel invite to Modi
Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) in US has decided to cancel invitation to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi following the denial and revocation of visa to Gujarat Chief Minister. They also announced that Gujaratis in America stand by President Bush’s decision on this matter and asked Gujarat Government to bring justice to all who are culprit in Gujarat communal violence. This was stated by Mike Patel, founder chairman of the Association and advisor on minorities to the US President George W Bush.
According to American Embassy in India, The United States is assessing India's request for reconsideration of the decision to deny visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
"The request of the Indian government for review of decision on denial of visa to Modi has been forwarded to the State Department. It is being assessed," Embassy spokesman David Kennedy said.
The countrywide uproar was universal. The expatriates rallied too. It was just shocking. No one supports what happened in Gujarat. No one supports the communal violence. But to deny visa to an invited guest in America by the Diaspora and cite human right violation to someone who is an elected official in India is unprecedented. Those who dislike Narendra Modi for once in their life stood up for him. It is not what he stands for. It is the pride of India.
International think tanks at this time believe that Modi will get a one time visa to come to the meeting, address the session and leave. But these think tanks also believe that Modi will refuse such concession.
Of course politics has its own spin. Now Mr. Modi is not welcome by AAHOA either.
