Jail term for Musharraf or slap in the wrist? The answer lies in Pennsylvania November election
Pakistani common people want Musharaf to go to jail., But it may not be that easy to send the world’s most notorious dictator – a favorite of the American right wing neo cons to send to jail.
If Obama is elected, most likely Musharraf will end up in jail. McCain will keep him as the caretaker of American interests in Pakistan. Al-Queda likes him to stay as the President so that they can recruit their terrorists in Pakistan.
Former Pakistani premier Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday that President Pervez Musharraf must be held accountable for all his actions as thousands of protestors gathered near the Islamabad parliament to demand the restoration of judges sacked by the embattled ex-military ruler.
In a show of strength, about 20,000 protestors assembled on Friday night at a ground located a stone's throw from parliament and the Presidency to demand the reinstatement of the judges deposed during the 2007 emergency.
Musharraf’s confidence comes from his military and the American support for him. He knows that unless an American President wants him to go, he will never have to leave the office of the President.
Can PPP and Nawaz Sharif put him in jail? No they cannot do that without explicit support of the American Administration. The Pakistani Military will arrest Musharraf and put him in jail only if America is behind the move.
The bigger question is – will American right wing nei cons steal the election this time in Pennsylvania to make McCain the next president?
