American Defense Research Outsourcing to India a possibility: Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran
Preetam Sen
Mar. 17, 2005

India and US may be embarking upon a historic phase of collaboration and cooperation.

Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran said, “We are now looking at whether it is possible to have a technological tie-up on defence research which would be located here, on which there has been some interest shown. It would be like the IBM or the GE who have put their research and development wings here.”

In the coming trip of Indian Prime Minsiter Manmohan Singh to US in July and possible visit of George Bush later this year to India may convert this possibility to a reality.

India is the ideal country for outsourcing defense research needs. It is strong in software engineering as well as aerospace. When you combine India’s strength with traditional strong holds of America – electronic warfare, you have created the recepe for invincible arms industry.
