Indian Extrenal Affairs Minister Mukherjee ready to confront Chinese counterpart on ''finger-tip'' area of Sikkim
Kirit Ojha
May 29, 2008

China claims that the area belongs to them. India vehemently disagrees and is ready to confront China on this in every front. Indian Extrenal Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee is on his way to Beijing. It would be the first high-level contact between the two countries after Beijing getting upset at the recent protests by the Tibetans. Mukherjee's four-day visit beginning June 4, would also be his first one after becoming the external affairs minister.

India is eager to face China on the recent flare-up in tensions over a recent claim by Beijing on the ''finger-tip'' area of Sikkim. Mukherjee is likely to furnish "proof" of the area belonging to India, during his talks with the Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi.
