Another Earthquake and Tsunami in the same area has no scientific base – however there is possibility of a mega volcano: Indian Geologists
The Geo-science is under developed and no one can accurately predict what will happen. But Geologists in India have categorically said that recent media reports of another 8.0 Richter Earthquake and similar Tusnami has not much scientific bases.
There are no patterns in aftershocks. After three months, the aftershocks finally have fallen off the reading meters. They are still there but there are no patterns that can predict that there will another big one in the same area.
There is some reason to believe based on volcano cycle patterns, there will be a mega volcano in the next several years.
According to Geologists the pressure built up between the Indian plate and the Australian plate is there and not all the pressure built up was released in the December quake. But based on geometric progression of pressure buildup there is no evidence that the pressure has exceeded any limit that makes another big one probable.
Andaman and Nicobar islands is vulnerable because of another separate reason. The last quake has caused the earth’s crust in that area weak. For the same reason yellow Stone National park is vulnerable, Andaman and Nicobar islands are also vulnerable.
