India plans to act as a nuclear fuel bank where other nations can acquire enriched nuclear fuel without acquiring enrichment technologies
Sudhir chadda
Apr. 19, 2008

This can be the most prudent way to stop proliferation nuclear enrichment technologies. Currently many small and developing nations are trying to acquire the nuclear fuel enrichment technologies to run their electric power generating reactors. But they face uphill task in acquiring the same from technical and political side. India can solve the problem by serving as the bank for the nuclear fuel for civilian purposes.

According to Indian Foreign Secretary, India runs a full nuclear fuel cycle of its own and would be happy to participate in providing a home for a nuclear fuel bank. The discussion on setting up of a nuclear fuel bank was still going on.

India hopes to finalize the civil nuclear deal with United States very soon.

International think tanks believe that India is open to hosting a nuclear fuel bank, which is a concept aimed at providing access to enriched nuclear fuel to nations, without the need for them to access enrichment technology.
