A secret agreement between PM Manmohan Singh and Dalai Lama on security of the Olympic torch
Tania Sailor
Apr. 16, 2008

Dalai Lama has assured Indian Government that there will no repeat of London and Paris in new Delhi when the Olympic torch relay will take place.

India on Wednesday said no Chinese personnel would be involved with the security of the torch relay and assured that there will be no repeat of the London and Paris hitches on the restricted route in the Indian capital.

Commandoes from paramilitary forces and thousands of policemen have been posted along the route from the presidential palace Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, the World War I monument in the heart of the capital.

Some Tibetans who have been camping here ahead of the Olympic torch relay have reportedly gone missing.

India does want a showdown with China in New Delhi. India prefers the showdowns in other countries. Tibetans respect Indian wish to make sure they get new Delhi’s full support for their struggle for independence and self determination.
