Nepal Maoists set to abolish the monarchy after winning landslide victory – what happens to India-Nepal relations?

Maoist leader Prachanda, whose CPN-Maoist has emerged as the largest party in Nepal’s constituent assembly polls met Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shanker Mukherjee and discussed the post-poll situation.

The Maoists know Nepal needs Indian help. India’s refusal to help the monarch of Nepal is remembered by the Maoists. The bigger question now is in the tug of war between India and China, who will finally influence Nepal?

Indian influence in Nepal is rooted through the means of religion. Hinduism and Buddhism flourish in Nepal. Nepal is still the only Hindu Kingdom in the world.

“I think within one month all these things should be cleared and I hope and I expect that within one month we will organise the first meeting of the first assembly and that first meeting should abolish the monarchy,” Prachanda told Ndtv.

As Nepal struggles to cope up with the Mosist philosophy and the abolition of monarchy, both India and China will influence Nepal. But at the end the Nepalese people will realize that India is deep rooted in them and that India and Nepal though different nations are together in journey of prosperity and goodwill.
