Kashmir militants are slowly joining Indian mainstream economic prosperity – India can make Kashmir the most beautiful and prosperous place in the world
Rajiv Razdhan
Apr. 12, 2008

The transformation is real. The process is slow but nevertheless it is real.

Released Militants'' Rehabilitation Forum and J-K People's Rights Movement formed in north Kashmir, no longer is the leader of jihad in the Valley. They speak out against the separatist leadership. These transforming past separatists now complain bitterly about being let down by Pakistan and the Jihadi leadership. They also recount the ordeals they went through, list their sacrifices and, seek compensation. Delhi is eager to accept them into the main stream Indian economic prosperity and these past separatists have no problem in accepting help from New Delhi.

The trend is clear. The former militants are realizing that India is ready to give Kashmiris the due respect within the framework of Indian constitution. It is of no use becoming another ‘Bangladesh’ and face series of food riots.

India’s economic prosperity is the key. If India pushes its overflowing resources towards the Kashmir valley, it will turn the most beautiful paradise of the world into a majestic prosperous mountain of economic success.

The former Jihadists need jobs, respect and recognition for their sacrifice. India is winning them by giving that. It is courage, forgiving attitude and collective wisdom that is making Indian accept these former enemies into their mainstream dreams.
