Former National Assembly speaker Yousuf Raza Gillani is new Pakistani prime minister to challenge the power of President Pervez Musharraf.
Harry Patil
Mar. 22, 2008

``Gillani is not afraid to lead and he knows the way,'''' PPP spokesman Farhatullah Babar told a televised news conference in Islamabad today, citing a statement by the party's co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari, the widower of assassinated former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

The battle starts in Pakistan between ‘people’ of Pakistan and Musharraf supported by western allies of the dictator.

``The pivotal role in decision-making'''' will remain with Zardari and the PPP officials in the party's main base in southern Sindh province, said Alqama. Gillani is from Punjab. It is a similar situation like in India. In India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh takes his marching orders from super PM Sonia Gandhi. Now in Pakistan, Zardari is the super PM who will control the game.
