Robert Gates in New Delhi upbeat about India-US militray cooperation denies ‘China’ syndrome

It is unbeliveable that India and US is so close militraily. Indian late PM Indira Gandhi would have fallen from her chair if she ever knew India and US will come so close into a military partnership.

Skeptics say, it is marriage of convenience as Robert Gates, the US defence secretary arrived in Delhi from Jakarta. Some international think tanks say, it is an effort to contain China.

Robert Gates, the US defence secretary, denied categorically on Wednesday that US efforts to boost military relations with India were aimed at containing the effect of rise of China.

“There are reasons for having interoperable weapons systems”, Mr. Gates clarified.

India is dealing shrewdly. It used US to counter China. China is trying to please New Delhi to kepp it off track for the Americans.
