India and IAEA almost ready to announce an understanding on the India-US nuclear deal

India and IAEA have held four rounds of talks since November last, apart from several informal consultations to work out a new template on safeguards specifically meant for India, According to sources close to Indian Atomic Energy Commission, India is quite happy with the progress of the talk.
The two sides are optimistic about closing on the deal sooner than later. It is a key requirement before the India-US nuclear agreement comes into force.
Confirming the sources, “Nuclear deal were progressing well”, Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission Anil Kakodkar said on Wednesday. He added "we would like to do it as fast as possible. But we have to see that India's requirements are properly met".
