All eyes on Nawaz Sharif and Zardari as PML(N), PPP win most of the seats in Pakistan

The win is for the European observers. Musharraf may have feared for the first time in life these EU observers and stayed away from rigging the election ‘Saddam’ style.
Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto’s husband Zardari will have to negotiate and form a coalition Government. There is more than 50% chance that these two will not agree and Pakistan’s election will not produce absolute majority for any party.
The ruling PML (Q), Musharraf's main, ally suffered a humiliating defeat with just 34 seats. Several of its stalwarts including former premier and party chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, former ministers Khurshid M Kasuri and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, a close aide of Musharraf, were defeated by their PPP and PML-N opponents.
Musharraf is also worried, sources in Islamabad say. He is depending on the rivalry of Nawaz Sharif and Zardari. Zardari wants to keep Musharraf intact for now and then slowly transition him. Nawaz Sharif wants a safe passage of exile for Musharraf now.
Sources in Pakistan say a different outcome. Musharraf is still in full control of Pakistani Military. He welcomes these political parties to the Parliament as long as they do not cross their limits.
The next several years the tussle will be between the elected political parties in Pakistan and Musharraf.
