Poor Americans who are treated as second-class citizens in their own country get help from Grameen Bank of Bangladesh – a shame for America and George Bush
Nenna Haldar
Feb. 16, 2008

It is not race, religion or anything as such. Rich Americans have deprived the poor and created a national infrastructure of economic slavery. In a capitalist nation the key to freedom is access to capital. That is where the rich and powerful in America deny freedom to many poor Americans and treat them as second-class citizens.

Some of these neo cons who have run the American Government for the last twenty-eight years are now denying access to capital and decent livelihood to American veterans as well as those injured in Iraq war. Some right wing TV talk hosts even dent homelessness among the veterans.

Bangladesh’s Grameen Bank is making loans in New York to the poor Americans in an attempt to bring its pioneering microfinance techniques. Millions of Americans live in the darkness of poverty, with no jobs, no health care and no bank account. These people are the modern day slaves in America created by the policies of reagan, Bushs and Clintons in the last twenty years.

While American banks have failed as financial instituttions in the middle of mortgage and debt meltdown, America can learn some lesson from world’sone of the poorest cpuntry – Bangladesh. Micro financing is a way of ‘changing the traditional banking system’ that is geared to the inefficient rich Americans who survive on inheritence and tax cut for the rich.
