No safe exit for Musharraf – he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent by Pakistan and international court of law: 85% of Pakistani population
Shishir Dasgupta
Feb. 15, 2008

85% of Pakistani people believe Musharraf has violated and manipulated the Pakistani constitution. He should be prosecuted by Pakistan and the international court of law.

Former Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif has said his party will decide on providing a “safe exit” to President Pervez Musharraf after the Feb 18. Pakistani people did not agree with that. They hold US and Europe responsible for Musharraf’s continued human rights abuse. After all America and Europe allowed him to continue to violate the human rights laws and the Pakistani constitution just to make sure Pakistani dictator is on their side.

Sharif, who was deposed by Musharraf in a bloodless coup in 1999, said only the reinstated members of the judiciary who were deposed during last year's emergency would be in a position to try those who had committed high treason under Article 6 of the constitution.

Next comes the question of Bhutto’s murder. An independent unbiased (unlike Scotland Yard) investigation is required to find what was the role of this western ally Musharraf in the matter.
