Skeleton in the closets haunt the Indian Marxists as they plan to lodge the third alternative front to fight the congress and the BJP
Partha Chatterjee
Jan. 20, 2008

Nandigram and atrocities in West Bengal will haunt the Indian Marxists for the next several decades as they come forward to form a third alternative power block in Indian politics. The failure of BJP and Congress parties to work for the ‘common people of India’ instead of the special interest that fuel the money for campaign has plagued the Indian politics for a long time. It is about time the communists and Marxists get a chance.

But the Marxists in West Bengal showed what they mean by ‘working for the common people of India’. They were caught in bed red handed with the rich oligarchs in India trying to snatch land of the poor Indian farmers. They failed to accomplish their desire to earn form the rich Indian oligarchs by cheating, beating and killing the common people of India because ‘pople of West Bengal and India’ said ‘no’ to them.

The Marxists now dream of new political alliance to challenge the Congress party and the BJP. In worrying signals for the UPA barely a year ahead of Lok Sabha elections, the CPI(M)'s draft political resolution for the ensuing 19th Party Congress makes it clear that it will not enter into any alliance or united front with the Congress. Releasing the draft here, CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat asserted that the party will maintain relations with all "non-Congress secular parties" for waging united struggles and joint actions on common issues.
