Jan. 16, 2008
A revolt by a section of the ministers and MLAs from coalition parties saw Congress-led coalition Government in deep trouble. The Kamat government was in troubles with at least seven legislators reportedly deciding to vote against a crucial finance Bill.
The disagreement among the congress party led coalition was obvious from the start. Kamat says there is no instability. He however hurriedly convened an emergency Cabinet meeting to discuss the future of the coalition.
Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar said the congress party led coalition government was running on thin ice and had no majority. BJP is gearing up to support the breakaway group to form an alternative government.
