In an interesting hit and run commando battle, the elite part of the Sri Lankan military engaged in a series of clashes in Sri Lanka's embattled north with the LTTE. They used special high tech commando devices brought in from Israel. At least 40 people, mostly Tamil Tigers, were killed in a series of clashes in Sri Lanka's embattled north, where the Army captured some rebel-held territory in stepped up battles with the guerrillas.

As many as one square kilometer in the LTTE-controlled areas was captured by army troops on Tuesday in the north of Parappakandal in Mannar amidst heavy damage to the militants. The techniques and devices are from Israel.
