India pressing IAEA hard on India-US nuke agreement– the time is in favor of India

Indian nuclear team led by the Department of Atomic Energy sources is pressing IAEA hard. India's right to hold its strategic reserve to cater to lifetime supply to its civilian nuclear plants is a big issue. India is adamant about its rights. IAEA is baffled with the stubbornness of ‘new vibrant’ India.

IAEA is habituated dealing with secondary nuke nations. Fir the first time they face the goliath nuke nation that can walk out of negotiation at any point of time.

India and IAEA, which have failed to reach a final `agreed text'' in the third round. Indications are there that US is pushing for deal before end of the year. India is in no hurry.

It was important that India and IAEA come to some kind of understanding in the next round of talks and finalize the text otherwise India would not be able to meet the deadline to clinch the civil nuclear deal.
