Based on a single signal intelligence intercept, Musharraf’s men have concluded that they have enough evidence to indict him of killing Benazir Bhutto.

But the US and other countries point to the fact the substantial evidence is not enough. International think tanks believe that it is very easy to make up the story and stage a set of evidence. It may even be possible that Musharraf and his men had Mehsud lined up to take the blame.

An unidentified senior State Department official says that they needed more evidence. "The Pakistanis are saying this is it, this is the proof," the official said.

Mehsud has been accused by Pakistani officials of being behind most of the suicide attacks on government, military, and intelligence targets in recent months. He and his men are based in the tribal areas of Waziristan where Bin Laden may be hiding for years.
