U.S. Holiday Internet Sales Rise point to a deep recession in 2008
Sam Adelton
Dec. 30, 2007

The looming recession is real. The Internet sales by U.S. retailers rose at the slowest pace on record. The falling home prices and a $3 gas price are having their negative impacts on the consumers that count for 70% of the economy.

Online spending from Nov. 1 through Dec. 27 increased 19 percent compared to 26% a year earlier, Reston, Virginia-based ComScore Inc. said.

The trend is sharply lower and given a massive shift over from traditional to Internet holiday shopping, the recession is on the cards. The economy is 2008 can contract by 1.2%, according to some financial think tanks.
