Mayawati’s BSP refuses to allow the Marxists in India to form the third alliance

It is the dream of the CPI(M) Polibureau to form a third alternative alliance that can challenge both BJP led NDA and Congress led UPA. They, however, face big challenge as some of the critical parties refuse to red banner.

Mayawati’s BSP probably will lead the next Indian Government with coalition formed from various parties. Jayalalitha’s AIDMK is also a considerable force in the South. But these dynamic parties are not talking to the communists who need them badly in the formationof the third alliance.

During the last few months, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat and other leaders are in touch with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. A section of the UNPA, the alliance comprising TDP, SP, AIDMK and other parties, are in constatnt touch with the Left leaders.

Without Mayawati’s BSP who will win close to 60 seats from UP and some more in surrounding states, it will be difficult to form the next Government by any party. The bigger question is who will Mayawati’s BSP embrace – Congress, BJP or the Left?

There is also a possibility that BJP will win a landslide victory in the country. That outcome is being tested in Gujarat right now
