India-US nuclear is a reality – stealth signals from America, Russia and India
There is lots of political uproar against US-India nuclear agreement. But behind the scene signals are clearly manifesting that soon the nuke deal will be a reality.
American companies that can supply reactors to India are in talks with local Indian companies for joint ventures. Normally American companies will not waste their time unless their management is sure that time has come for Indian operations receives some kind of signal.
The bigger signal comes from the Left alliance. Every three-week they start shouting that they will make the Indian Government fall if any further advancement in talks are allowed. But look at the chronological sequence. India is talking to IAEA and Left has removed its objections. The biggest surprise came from the man who actually said a few days back that the UPA coalition will have to go for a new election if India continues talk with IAEA after December 31, 2007.
General Secretary Prakash Karat on Saturday denied reports that he had threatened elections on the issue of the Indo-US nuclear deal. He now says "the alleged remarks ''if this is the issue they want to break up with us on, all political parties need to be prepared for elections anytime'' were not made by me.” Just watch and see soon the Left will allow open talks between Indian and IAEA. Soon they will remove all their objections to the deal
A bigger signal comes from Russia. The Russians are upset with India. They are raising their prices of anything they supply to India in terms of military hardware. Russians have intimate knowledge of the whole situation through their intelligence and their sources in Indian Left block. They know India is a neutral country now. They are reluctant to provide India any more subsidies given the fact India will pay $100 billion to American companies for the nuclear reactors.
