Church of England says British Raj in India was an example of caring colonialism compared to American neo-imperialism in Iraq – really – a joke of the century?
Neena Parikh
Nov. 25, 2007

Church of England has the audacity to call British colonialism in India better than American imperialism in Iraq. It is the biggest joke of the century. Colonialism is colonialism. Imperialism is imperialism. These are simply wrong. It is ridiculous to say murder is a worse crime than rape or vice versa. If you believe Americans are wrong, and then look at the mirror you will find you yourself were equally wrong.

The British have no right to call bush Administration wrong. First they committed far worse atrocities when they were the colonial and imperial superpower. Second, they aided the Americans to bootlick the only superpower of the world.

It is true that the world with American neo cons and the Islamic extremists is not a place to practice nonviolence and Lord Buddha’s philosophy. But calling American atrocities worse than that of ones own is just ridiculous.

What did the British do in Jaliwalanabag? They killed thousands of unarmed men, women and children after putting them in a enclosed place with place to escape. They used mortars and machine guns to create world’s worst abuse of human rights. Was Abhu Gharib bad? Yes it was. But it was a prison after all. Innocent people were not all on a sudden encircled with the military commandoes and killed with no mercy.

How many Indian women were raped by the British? Go to Kolkata, the Indian capital under British Raj. Go visit the Park Street and other central Kolkata region. You will find a community that still struggles to find its root, its own identity. They are called Anglo-Indians. British scoundrels day in and day out mercilessly raped many Indians women. Hundreds of thousands were mercilessly murdered by the British.

What British did in Indian Raj was not only abuse of human rights but also complete sin. They got away because of Mahatma Gandhi who stopped Indian martial leader Subhas Bose from staging tit for tat to the British from within the country. They got away because Jawaharlal Nehru started an affair with the wife of Mount Batten, the viceroy in India. They got away because Americans made the British understand that it was to UK’s own benefits to allow independence of South Asia. They got away because the native Indians are naïve.

At the end what the British do? They divided the country and made sure a lawless nation create havoc to India and the world called Pakistan. If you ever ask what was the root cause behind the Islamic terrorism, you will find it is the British who created Pakistan just to Punish India.
