Rise of Rupees and US recession – the honeymoon is over for Indian IT companies
Babu Ghanta
Nov. 20, 2007

Indian IT companies have no products. They sell bodies to Americans and Europeans just like Indian traders used to sell spices to East India Company from Britain centuries back before British sneakily took care of Indian independence.

Now the Rupee is appreciating against dollar. The US is in recession after the mortgage fiasco and liquidity collapse. The Indian IT companies are running for the cover. The days of easy money are over. They have to perform and earn their living again.

According to Assocham, the Indian IT companies are finding it difficult to maintain high growth rates in sales and profit.

The hiring spree of IT companies seems to have slowed and the employment outlook for the current financial year is not as encouraging as it was last year.
